Providing a range of surveying and visualisation services to the construction industry, our team at Severn Partnership  are all valued professionals, respected for their skills and expertise. Understanding that there are still barriers to women working within construction and the built environment, as a committed equal opportunities employer, we are always keen to support initiatives that will increase recognition and opportunity for others within the industry.

This month, several colleagues from Severn Partnership were able to attend an inaugural event aimed at women in construction. Designed to inspire women considering a career in the sector, the event included talks and presentations from women from all professional roles, levels and disciplines. Encouraging colleagues to tackle the issues that will help ensure that the role of women in the built environment is a long-lasting legacy, the event was powerful and a great success. Delegate and Severn Partnership 3D Modeller Nisa Mendez was impressed:

“Extremely inspirational, the event really struck a chord with me. Having been brought up with lots of brothers and male cousins, for me, I was quite used to having to fight a little harder for position. Now as a female within a predominantly male industry, the need to work hard, if not harder to gain my footing in the sector as a whole is relevant to myself and other females looking to succeed in the profession. Luckily for me, I work within an organisation where gender does not restrict professional accomplishment. However, this may not always be the case for others and events like this do a great job of highlighting the issue and working towards a positive change.”
