Automated Monitoring – Safe, Sustainable, Dynamic.

At Severn Partnership, our automated asset monitoring service is testament to our commitment for lean workflows and promoting the safest, most sustainable solutions, creating value by taking boots off the ground and reducing site visits.

Fulfilling our reputation for innovative and professional services, we utilise the latest wireless technology to monitor structural assets and ground movement to sub-millimetre accuracy. As part of our Monitoring Action Plan, we set automated alerts based on specified project tolerances that notify our clients of any movements as and when they happen.

Automated Wireless Monitoring

Using wireless sensors carrying the latest Mesh & LoRaWAN technology, Severn Partnership offer a lean, green, and bespoke instrumentation and monitoring (I&M) solution tailored specifically by our in-house experts to the needs of each project in a wide range of situations.

A network of sensors installed by our experienced team, allow us to monitor and measure any movements remotely to the highest possible accuracies, 24 hours a day in near real-time. This enables us to provide information and assurance as often as required by the client.

Our lean wireless monitoring service allows for remote locations such as rail and tunnel environments to be accessed and monitored efficiently, without passing on the costs of repeat visits to site.

Deviations in the asset’s usual state, trigger alerts, which can be sent directly to a site designatory allowing appropriate action to be taken immediately at source.

Tunnel Convergence Monitoring

Tunnel Convergence is the result of deformation occurring inside tunnels, caused by ground shifts or material failures. These issues, often exacerbated by construction activities, demand proactive monitoring to identify concerns before they become dangerous and costly.

Why is Monitoring Essential? A vigilant monitoring regime is essential for spotting structural issues early on. This early detection allows for repairs and renovations to take place, preventing problems from becoming less manageable and more expensive.

Whether a tunnel is at great depths or is a shallow passageway determines the direction of forces impacting its structures. Our solutions take into account the unique challenges posed by each situation.

No situation is without forces acting on its structure. Our advanced monitoring solutions ensure that these forces are not only identified but also addressed proactively to maintain structural integrity.

Automated Total Station Monitoring

Some projects require a fully comprehensive I&M solution including Automatic Total Stations (ATS) and manual monitoring. Our multi-skilled survey team, utilising advanced instrumentation and Severn Partnership’s proven workflows, can carry this out quickly, efficiently and over any duration.

Depending on the project requirements, we can also utilise our rail department to do pre and post baseline rail alignment surveys using our Track Measuring Device (TMD). We can then provide track alignment reporting regimes around Cant, gauge and twist along with track alignment.

Automated Environmental Monitoring

In construction, monitoring the environment is often required through a Section 61 agreement to limit the impact of operations on neighbouring communities, wildlife and sensitive structures. Consequences from generating excess dust, noise and vibration can range from stress and disruption for nearby property owners, to health and safety concerns for those working on site, as well as individuals within its vicinity. Failure to put mitigating measures in place against these occurrences will very often lead to costly delays, restrictions being forced upon projects and ultimately fines being issued to the client.

Using the latest technology, our specialist team can monitor these environmental factors remotely, assuring compliance with the Section 61 agreement throughout the course of the project. Regulations and site-specific tolerances are established through an initial consultation with a specialist project manager, a designated point of contact, who will remain on-hand to advise on any complexities or complications.

Should levels rise above these established tolerances, alerts will be triggered and sent instantly to designated points of contact for the appropriate actions to be swiftly taken.

All the above is managed remotely without the need for regular site access once install is complete.
