Having always been a Chartered Surveying company, Severn Partnership were very proud to be a part of The Queen’s visit to RICS, as Patron, for RICS 150th anniversary.

We were delighted to showcase a 3D Augmented Reality App of the RICS Headquarters to Her Majesty, and demonstrated how the innovative technology works while viewing the internal space of the building. The original 3D model came from the Severn Partnership 3D laser scanning & building information modelling (BIM) teams. Highlighting key achievements of the surveying profession and demonstrating its importance to society, both in the past and in the future, the event was a huge success.

Director Nick Blenkarn comments:

“Proptech is already recognised by the UK Government as technology that is key for future business growth and prosperity; As such, we were delighted to show Her Majesty the Augmented Reality (AR) App and demonstrate an example of technological innovation.”

“It was an absolute honor to show the Patron of the world’s leading professional body for qualifications and standards in land, property, infrastructure and construction, innovation that we have developed and work with on a daily basis.”

Nick showed Her Majesty the Augmented Reality (AR) App, demonstrating how the App can showcase complex 3D designs or models created from 3D reality capture, Nick spoke about the relevance that the technology has for 3D communications within marketing, safety or stakeholder engagement.

Potentially, visualisation technology can reduce visits to site (generating savings in terms of cost and carbon) or design rework in the form of communication visualisation with 3D. Accessed by tablet or phone, Nick further demonstrated the intuitive, user-friendly nature of the App that enables simple access to complicated 3D design or data for everyone.
