A detailed highway topographic survey was completed which was compliant with the Transport for London (TFL) standards, extending to back of pavement across a busy five way road junction.
Fiveways Junction is a busy multi-lane road junction near croydon on the A23, which posed a significant challenge for safe access. Traditional survey techniques would require Traffic Management and Road Closures for safe access, requiring a long lead in time for planning and significant disruption to the public.

Using mobile mapping Severn Partnership completed site survey works in a single midweek night shift, avoiding peak traffic hours and removing any disruption to the public. By utilising existing survey control accuracy was maintained at +/-10mm in line with traditional techniques, without the need for surveyors to work on the highway.
Traditional survey methods would require 6 team shifts working under traffic management, however with mobile mapping Severn Partnership completed site work in a single shift without traffic management.

Benefits:
- 80% reduction in site time
- No Traffic Management
- No Staff working on the open highway outside of a vehicle
- Reduced lead in time to site works with reduced risk
- No detail missed with a full 360 Point Cloud
- Point Cloud data can be used as a basis for BIM modelling
