Condover Cricket Club Topographic Survey
Condover Cricket Club Topographic Survey Summary:
A Local cricket club were looking to expand and upgrade their existing facilities and required a topographic survey and floor plans.
Requirements from the client are a full topo of the cricket ground, adjacent roads, club buildings and a floor plan of the changing room and clubhouse to base the planning application on but also as a marketing tool when approaching possible funding providers.
A total station was used to survey the cricket ground as most of the ground could be seen from one position. A 5m grid of levels was surveyed across the whole area and other relevant data requested by the client was also picked out. The total station was also used to survey the position of the buildings using the reflectorless capability. RTK GPS was used to survey the detail of the boundary around to the field and on the adjoining roads. This meant quicker survey time and less exposure on the highway to the survey team.
Due to the nature of the buildings it was most economical to draw up the plans from Disto measurements and draw the plans up in AutoCAD.
Aside from the weather it was a straight forward job. The nature of the pitch allowed us quickly survey the level grid and boundaries. The Floor plans were slightly challenging in that it required a bit of a step back to a more basic technique than is generally employed at the Partnership but the square nature of the building meant it was the most economical method to use without compromising the data.
Due to the job being so local and resource availability the job was turned around within a week of the enquiry.
The client received paper plots at 1:500 for the Topo and 1:50 for the floor plans and also a digital copy on DVD from which to base their plans for the redevelopment of the buildings. There is also the offer to make additional Seeable plans to further aid the club with their marketing drive to achieve their funding goals, we are still to hear back on this.
