BIM 4 Infrastructure – Bath Railway Laser Scan Survey
BIM 4 Infrastructure – Railway Laser Scan Survey Summary:
We were approached to laser scan and produce a 3D model of Bath Spa Railway Station and Skew Bridge, along with the surrounding Infrastructure for re-design and BIM 4 Heritage (BIM4H).
Originally surveyed in 2014, this project included scanning Bath Spa station and all surrounding infrastructure (bridges, highways, topography, platforms, canopies, car parks, boundaries, street furniture, adjacent arches / buildings).
In 2016 discussions began with regards to the development of the existing scan data into a 3D model; primarily to facilitate the proposed refurbishment. The model was also used for listed building consent, as the main station building is Grade II* Listed and located within a Conservation Area.
The model was created within Autodesk Revit and exported into a DGN file format to be utilised within Bentley Microstation and issued via Project Wise, complying with NR standards.
