Heritage Survey – Bishops Castle Crypt
Heritage Survey – Bishops Castle Crypt Summary:
Severn Partnership were commissioned to carry out a heritage survey. This involved 3D laser scanning of a Crypt discovered accidentally under the floor of St John the Baptist Church in Bishops Castle.
Detailed plans and archive data were required from this survey, with only a limited window of opportunity to complete the work. For this reason, we used our short range HDS6100 phase based scanner, observing 500,000 points per second. The resulting high resolution point clouds of the crypt were ideal as both archive records and the basis for structural analysis for a report on the Church floor stability.
Our time of fight Leica ‘C10’ scanner was used to capture the internal arrangement of the Church.
